Sugarloafer Jen Winslow wrote to Skiing Magazine a month or two back, lamenting her rotten luck in the dating department, due in large part to her ovewhelming passion for skiing and for Sugarloaf. Skiing felt her pain, and teamed up with us to get Jen a date here at the Loaf.

Here's what will appear in the mag:
SWF Seeks Skier
Win a Ski Date with...me.

Since moving back home to Maine from Colorado five years ago, I’ve been trying to find a man who meets the requirements on my list*. I’ve had my share of relationship drama—the latest guy failed because he decided he’d never ski again after three knee surgeries. So here I am, single and waiting to find my soulmate, a man who wants to go to the ’Loaf every weekend and rip it up until cocktail time.
—Jen Winslow Windham, Maine

We usually don’t do this, Jen, but we’re going to help you out. One of our New Year’s resolutions was to be nicer to readers—that and to stop swearing in front of children. Well, actually we amended that second one and have stopped swearing at children, which is a start. Since you’ve had some bad luck, we’re working with your home hill, Sugarloaf, to find you a man. Check out the details below. —Ed.

*Jen’s requirements: Age 27 to 35, funny, smart, driven, trustworthy, creative, stylish (but not too much), and crazy about Maine and skiing. A pretty tall order, but if that sounds like you, write to us at editor@skiingmag.com by February 28. The winner, as chosen by Jen, will receive a ski date with the lovely lady at Sugarloaf, Maine, including lift tickets, a cat ride to a mountaintop lunch, and an après-ski bar tab.

Hi Jen,

Good luck with that!!!! I wish I was young enough to enter the contest I'm sure my wife Rosa wouldn't mind (Too Much). Even though she ski's with me she does not have the same passion and does not go nearly as much as I do she doesn't complain. She actually buys me the season pass and encourages me to go, I wonder what's up with that?

Well maybe I'll see you carving turns on Narrow Gage or at the Widowmaker bar, hope you have a great time.

Good luck Jen. There's plenty of us who have spouses that don't ski anymore. They just have to be understanding of our needs.

I've skied with Jen and she beat the King of the mountain, then we went to the Rack and pounded Jack Daniels. She laughs and her eyes are as bright as the full moon. Awwwooooo!!!

It seems like it would have made more sense to shut SQ down on a slow tuesday and put the sheaves on and have less windholds then to leave it for later and have more windholds

Thanks for the update. It's nice to know the highly touted sheeve trains will still be installed. I think last year had less wind than '07/'08 and '080/'09 and but it will be interesting to see if they improve the wind resistance of the SQ. I think…

I hope Ethan can fill us in on this one. Many of my Loafer friends and I are puzzled by this question. Last year this was announced as an improvement for the SQ to make it more likely to run in windy conditions.  Nothing was done and the rumor mill…

I guess "they" read my post. Still nothing official about 2010-11 skiing improvements, though the Zipline and Chairlift rides will help make SL more interesting in the noon-ski season. Also, the Zipline may run in winter too.

Well, the old photo gallery on the left is gone. I'll miss her. It was like that old truck rotting beside the garage. Now that she's gone, you realize you really did love her. In other news: That badge thing is hideous. The default colors are nearl…

Why does this site continue to show pictures from "This is a collection of photos of this year's Capital Improvements in progress." and all the pics are from the summer of 2009. The section is captioned "What's new for 2009-10?" In order to make the…

although it wont have any meaning to many skiers it will attract enthusiasts if there was a hike only gladed area or extreme like area over there. It would create a rage similar to what casablanca did at saddleback if it can be reached with a short…
