Sugarloaf Community

Not sure if you all have noticed the little countdown on the left side of the Community homepage, but we're down to just 17 days left until we open for the season. That, my friends, is exciting.

Opening day plans are similar to what we saw last year. Tote Road will be our first priority, and with a little help from Mother Nature we'll be able to bring King's Landing, Candyside and possibly Hayburner into the mix as well. We'll have lots more on this as opening day inches ever closer.

Offseason projects are wrapping up and crews are shifting their focus to winter and how to make it get here sooner. The new snowmaking lines have all been buttoned up, and snowmakers are getting ready to run air and water this week to give the system a thorough test run. Snowmaking is scheduled to get underway in earnest in slightly less than two weeks, giving us plenty of time to put down a thick base for opening day.

Elsewhere on the mountain we've installed new wind-fencing along the top portion of Double Runner West and at the top of #3 T-Bar. Ideally this new fencing will help us hang onto those lifts on the windiest days this year and keep us from getting shut out even when Mother Nature tries to say otherwise. Lift mechanics and electricians will be working on some new sheave trains for the SuperQuad in the next couple of weeks as well, also to help that lift run longer on windy days.

We'll be updating this blog frequently as the season gets closer, so stay tuned for updates and think snow.

I have a question on how far down the mountain phase 1 will go. The map shows it all the way to Snowbrook /lower part of Woody Creek. Is this really where it will end or will it somehow end onto the Stubb's Glase condo access trail? Mtnbrew

Ethan, Can you please clarify how access will be gained to the new gladed area? I understand that you can access most of it via the top of King Pine, but what about at the bottom? My understanding is that for now is that this area is accessible by…

Does anyone know what the impact to the cross-country trails and the dog trail above Snowbrook will be? Will we still be able to hike Burnt in Winter?
