Girls Day Out

What could be better than a day of spring skiing at Sugarloaf? A day of spring skiing at Sugarloaf with awesome girlfriends, vintage clothing, and well... a video camera! That's right, the other day I went out with my friend Leigh and Bunny and we check out just what this mountain was made of. Here's a goofy little home video I put together!

New Knee...New Skis... It Just Makes Sense!

Me with my new skis! Just look at AWESOME pretty bases! Alright, so, I'll be honest with you.... I have a really problem with commitment. So much so that, while in college, I was never at the same school for more than a year and a half consecutively. I signed an 18 month lea… Continue

Win a Date: The Finale

Sugarloaf’s short lived stint of playing cupid has come to an end. That’s right; Sugarloaf’s Jen Winslow has chosen and gone on her date with a lucky lad from Colorado, Wes. The two ripped it up all day on Saturday, enjoyed some fine food, and even rocked the night away to the Band Beyond Description at The Rack on Saturday night. There's nothing like a Grateful Dead cover band to make the romance fly!

An Ode to Spring Skiing

An Ode to Spring Skiing By: Lizzy Reinholt Fifteen weeks ago to this day... I blew my knee out...in an awful way. I hemmed, I hawed, I screamed, and shouted. When told I blew my ACL... I even pouted. "By it's my winter to ski!" I did plea. "It's not going to happen this year," they said. "No sire-ee!" I understood and said, "That's okay." "I'll still be optimistic and write the snow report anyway." At 6am, day in and day out, I took a look at the snow...the mountain...and the skiing… Continue

Where's Your Vintage?

Hey 'Loafers, Here are some photos of today's Very Vintage outfits. Not everyone made it for the photo but, I am sure you saw some of them on the mountain. It was AWESOME! Be sure to come out tomorrow and join in! Remember, we're doing a photo at 10am in front of the SuperQuad.

You're Invited

Hey there 'Loafers, The season is drawing to a close, spring is upon us, and it's time to get wild, wacky, and way out there as Sugarloaf maintains its status as the King of Spring. So, in honor of my LOVE for one-piece ski suits and very vintage outer wear, it's time to play dre… Continue

Shredequette: A Mom and Dad’s (any anyone else’s) Guide to “Freeriding Lingo”

Watch out moms and dads because there’s a whole new language out there, and you probably don’t know how to speak it. I’ve seen you sit with your son and daughters over lunch getting confused as they tell you about some friend of theirs whose board’s dialed in and he’s riding duck foot and hitting an eggplant in the stunt ditch. And, I can see on your face that your just so lost as you’re trying to figure out if your son or daughter just tried to tell you that his friend, with webbed feet, was t… Continue

"Dear Jen" Part II

The letters keep rolling and Jen has a lot of fun reading on her hands. Here are some more letters: I saw your article in this month's issue of Skiing and have to admit, I am very intrigued since it's hard to find an attractive woman skier. I've come to the realization lately that my future wife should be better at me in skiing. Now, I have only been skiing a few years, but on my first day I was skiing through the trees in Killington and have excelled tremendously. I love the chase and theContinue

"Dear Jen"

The letter submission deadline is up and it's time for Jen to start reading all of those sweet, endearing, and sometimes creepy letters that were sent to her during our and Skiing Magazine's win a date with Jen project. Thank to Skiing Magazine, we were able to get our hands on some of the best and worst of these letters! From an aspiring… Continue

"My Mountain Adventure" -- Day Three: Using Poles

Right now I have a pretty tired little girl sitting on the couch next to me, thanks largely in-part to the fact that she's spent the past 3 days skiing with Sugarloaf's Mountain Adventure Program. Let's hear how Sara's week is going:

"My Mountain Adventure"

It’s vacation time which mean a lot of kids are out of school and have an entire week to run around and enjoy the great outdoors of Maine. Of course, for parents, vacation time means a lot of time juggling, rearranging, and crazy chaos, especially as they try to figure out how to make sure their kids enjoy their vacation, do fun activities, and also stay safe. For Sugarloaf's Perfect Turn Instructors it also means a lot of juggling, re… Continue

Meet Jen

I think we've all be passionate enough about something to sit down and write a letter. It's just very rare that we send it to a national magazine like Skiing. It's even rarer that the magazine will be so amused and entertained by the letter that they'll offer to help you out with a nation wide "Win a Date" campaign. Of course, it makes sense that something this rare and humorous would happen to Sugarloafer Jen Winslow, a young woman who seems to have, if possible, more passion for life and all… Continue

Me and My One-Piece

I read a very interesting statistic yesterday that I want to share with you all: "Apparel sales - although down 3% - accounted for more than 40% of dollars spent overall in the snow sports market. Snowboard apparel, shell parkas and fleece sales remained strong and another surprising increase of more than 20% in adult one-piece suits shored up the market. " If any of you have seen me on the mountain, on WSKI, or even out at night at the Rack or the Widowmaker or almost any… Continue

Thanks to our 12-14" of fresh snow this week, the mountain is in PRIME conditions for this weekend. Rather than hearing me rave about it though, I decided to hear it from you!

A New King and Queen are Crowned!

Wake up, get out of bed, drink a beer, stuff your face with chocolate brownies and ice cream, go home, drink another beer, dress yourselves in 1970's attire, practice your dance moves, go out, dance the night away, drink a few more beers, schmooze, booze, and maybe even get bruised, go home (or maybe not), go to bed, wake up, put on your outer-wear, throw a keg as far as possible, run around, dance around, find your chaps, practice your quick draw, go to a Wild Wild West Party, Grab your partner… Continue

Superpipe Opens Tomorrow!

How do you feel about gravity? Well, as far as the Sugarloaf Terrain Park boys are concerned, it's not the "What goes up must come down" part that matters... it's what you do in between that they care about. So much so that they spent the summer redesigning our Superpipe and the past couple weeks working endlessly on our Superpipe so it's better for all you gravity defying dudes (and dudettes) out there! I got a chance to go up to the the "pipe construction site" today and ride around with one… Continue

Bring it Winter... 11 to 12 inches and Still Coming Down!

Hey-o, Today's my day off but, I couldn't help but come up to the mountain and check out how much snow we've gotten. And yes, that was me you saw standing at the bottom of the SuperQuad with a camera in hand and a tear in my eye at the fact that I couldn't join all of you on the mountain carving along on the foot of fresh snow... Dr.'s orders! It didn't stop me from enjoying though.... I totally jumped out of my car into a fluffy whiteness and made a snow angel or two! What a difference… Continue
