King Pine Closed

February 28, 2020

2/29/20 Update: King Pine will remain closed on Sunday, March 1.

The King Pine lift will be closed on Saturday, February 29, and possibly Sunday, March 1, due to a mechanical issue. While we are reluctant to close a lift on what is likely to be a busy weekend at the resort, we are taking this step out of an abundance of caution due to a recently discovered mechanical issue.

The issue in question is affecting the uphill sheave assembly on the portal depress tower, and affects the travel of the chairs and the haul rope through the sheave train. This issue has occurred infrequently and has been observed to occur only under a narrow set of environmental and operational conditions, but with a heavy volume of passengers likely this weekend we are erring on the side of caution while our lift technicians work to fix the issue.

We are working with engineers at Doppelmayr, who manufactured the load terminal, on the proper course of action and expect to have the lift back in operation next week.

We will keep you updated with any changes right here.
