Like Norton hinted at earlier, our first rail jam of the season is officially scheduled for Saturday, January 16, and we're calling it the BYO (Build-Your-Own) Rail Jam.

On the Terrain Park Blog, you'll find all of the details, including a list of all available features and instructions on how to submit your venue design. The person with the winning design gets free entry into the rail jam and gets the distinct pleasure of ordering around Jake, Norton, and the rest of the STP crew while they construct your design.

Any questions feel free to post em here.

24 feet

My idea 3 features two features that both lead into the wall ride. One feature on the left should be one of the 20 foot flat boxes set up with a good kick so that it can be spun onto easily no flat inrun right into it. More like the flat box currently in sidewinder and less like the one at the very beggining which was very flat coming into it. and the box should be set up so that theres a decent drop off the other end my idea for this would be best displayed in this picture from rtr earlier this year at killington

For the other feature there should be a flat down box perfect for disastering and switchups at the kink. The wallride should be set up at the end for a perfect ending to the set up. these features will also help the little groms feel like they are running with the big guys. this set up is simple but has the capability to allow for complex flashy tricks and the boxes allow for more complex spins onto features than rails would perfect for a rail jam for anyone to compete in.

nathan d has a great idea! The wall ride would be a great addition, and the raised up flat box is a good idea too... would provide some definite potential.

Keep 'em coming!!!

Alright mine is a pretty big idea, i thought i would post this one first and if it seems like too big a task, i can choose my smaller ones.

Box Ideas:
(2)Flat box angled up to the up flat down box to drop. This can either be hit with speed to pop off the up and big spin out, or can be hit slower and has the potential for triple switch ups.
(1)Flat box angeled up on top of the down flat box, to make an up to gap to down box rail. Again, can be hit with speed to blast off of or create steezy transitions
(3)Flat box to large sugarloaf 4 foot tall box. cut the snow so that the flat box ends on a drop and the sugarloaf box fits nice and snug in the cliff. you could also carry this drop over and use it for a possible staircase, using the:
Rail Ideas:
(4)Flat rail angled up (16 ft) for big spins out
(5)Down flat down barrel rail, with urban entry at top and at the flat-down part. versatile for all abilities.
(6) Flat down bar, with gap entry for spin ons
(7) down barrel with urban entry. easier rail

shoot, some of the rails angles are a lot more mellow than the picture shows

those are great ideas. i like that snow stair setup but instead of the gap to down rail i think an urban down to flat box or rail would be awesome.

New update on the BYO Rail Jam - The top skier and snowboarder will win automatic entry into the second annual Downtown Showdown on January 30 in Monument Square in Portland. The Downtown Showdown is pretty much the biggest urban rail event in New England, and last year we had 2,000 spectators tun out. You can read more in the Terrain Park Blog.

Sick!! When do we find out who won the contest?

And Mitch ^^, i wanted to do a gap to rail simply because the other two rails are urban entry, it just mixes it up. and for the rail to box, thats a cool idea, but kind of radical.

I have a question on how far down the mountain phase 1 will go. The map shows it all the way to Snowbrook /lower part of Woody Creek. Is this really where it will end or will it somehow end onto the Stubb's Glase condo access trail? Mtnbrew
