Sugarloaf Community

Just got the word that we have a handful of guns running right now up on Tote Road! Snowmakers are working on flushing out lines and setting up equipment around the mountain, and they plan to run a number of guns for a good portion of the day. The real snowmaking push will get underway next week as weather permits.

Check back for pics later today.

Only 15 days to go!

i am form mass and will almost always drive the extra hour to go to sugarloaf, where there are less gapers, better glades, better jumps, friendlier people, longer trails, the anti gravity complex, and a better night life. boyne chooses to open sr first and close sl last. sunday river opens first because they are closer to the portland/boston area. there is no need for boyne to spend all their money to open both sugarloaf and sundayriver. sr does have better lifts and better jibs in their park, but i would only ski there frequently if i lived within an hour of sr like yourself.

its funny how people knock "SUNDAY RIVER" as that is the correct title for the resort that continually outranks sugarloaf in all areas, and then they ski its snow because it opened first then run their mouth on this. What sunday river does not have is a superquad always breaking down, incessantly long lift lines, and a crowded torn up mid mountain.

Congrats on the loaf getting their act together and starting the process to open for the season, but lets not be too quick to mouth off about the resort that opened FIRST three years in a row, besides we all know if SL shut its doors tomorrow lots of sorry "loafer die hards" would be at the river the next day talking trash about the loaf.

Lol, even the skier population cant remain true anymore!

Enjoy the winter

I think the only thing the loaf is missing is a "Winer" tab on the top of the Community Page. That way all the winers can easily direct themselves there and wine away while the rest of us enjoy good conversation with other skiiers alike - keeping topics on topic. Who knows, maybe all the winers would meet other winers and bond. Then they would be happy winers that might get together somewhere else and wine.

Re-check your rankings this year, bud. Sugarloaf beat out Sunday River in Ski Magazine...AGAIN...with our "broken lifts", "long lift lines", and our "crowded torn up mid-mountain". WHEW!!!...

maybe Jason should ski here on some day other than a Saturday on a holiday weekend or vacation week? Sorry folks to keep this negativity flowing...GO SNOWMAKERS GO!

Big deal the River has one trail open from the mid station up. Truth be told Killington has seven trails open and two lifts. There is one thing Sugarloaf needs to do to be the best resort in New England. and that is pull out one of the double runner chairs and put a high speed quad from the base to te top of Spillway. The Gondola would be a mistake. The summit does not open to late January to early Febuary and the lift would not be able to open. Not many people can ski the double diamonds at the top. I think a lift to the top of spillway will be more cost effective and it will get you almost any where on the mountain.

Sugarloaf has personality. We have friendlier people, better glades, less assholes, and waaay more OB terrain and secret stuff.

I like SR and SL both have their positive and negative attributes.

I am hoping SL has some snow making opportunities soon, I would like to come up on the 24th and stay for through the weekend, if nothing is open I will take a day trip or two to SR.
