I've heard through a credible source that the loaf will announce on monday the installation of a tram up gondi line for next season...anyone else hear this rumor?

Very Funny!

That would be fun...

But I think I recall Mr. Diller saying that a new lift is not feasible, because then ticket prices would soar to $100 and beyond or something along those lines.

From the Town Office Selectment Agenda:
"4. REQUEST FROM CARRABASSETT VALLEY RESIDENT SETH WESCOTT: FOR THE BOARD OF SELECTMEN (and Sugarloaf/Boyne) TO RESEARCH AND INVESTIGATE THE POSSIBILITY OF THE TOWN OF CARRABASSETT VALLEY PARNERING WITH BOYNE/SUGARLOAF TO PROVIDE FINANCING FOR A NEW GONDOLA SKI LIFT AT SUGARLOAF: Seth will present a conceptual plan for the Board of Selectmen to consider for further research and investigation with Boyne/Sugarloaf representatives to provide Sugarloaf Mountain with this potential major capital improvement."

That would be sick...but I won't get my hopes up. Good luck with the presentation Seth!

If anyone goes to this meeting a report would be much appreciated!! Surprised this doesn't create more of a stir around town (or at least on the board)...maybe the issue is stale? Make it happen, Seth!!

Tram the backside-backside, clear cut that stuff and throw a tram up the middle. 10000x sicker IMO

My uncle is on the board and he was there. He said seth blew them away and it was a great speech. I wouldnt be suprised if a gondola wasn't in place within the next 3 or 4 years.

Seth's presentation can be viewed here. Some interesting ideas delivered in a very compelling fashion.

Im sorry, but thats just an awful idea. If the backside was developed, then it wouldnt be as much fun because people who dont know their shit would flood it and get lost and die. I would much rather hike than have all that traffic.

Thanks to WSKI for taping the meeting and posting the video. For anyone who missed it in the post above, you can view Seth's presentation at the following link: http://www.wskitv.com/vid-thisweek.shtml

Amazing!
Seth really helped push the issue of lifts to the priority, and he's right, lifts are the area that Sugarloaf could improve the most in. I beleive that replacing spillway and and this particular project are the most urgent problems that Sugarloaf should conquer.

Seth reminded us how the old gondola and current golf course attract people, and I beleive that this would do the same.
The benefits could be enormous. Not to mention how much fun it would be ;).

"So let's get off our hands, and climb back to our summit."

:D

I have a question on how far down the mountain phase 1 will go. The map shows it all the way to Snowbrook /lower part of Woody Creek. Is this really where it will end or will it somehow end onto the Stubb's Glase condo access trail? Mtnbrew

Ethan, Can you please clarify how access will be gained to the new gladed area? I understand that you can access most of it via the top of King Pine, but what about at the bottom? My understanding is that for now is that this area is accessible by…

Does anyone know what the impact to the cross-country trails and the dog trail above Snowbrook will be? Will we still be able to hike Burnt in Winter?
